World Nursery Rhyme Week in Nursery
14th Nov 2025
This week we took part in World Nursery Rhyme Week. This is a free, world-wide initiative celebrating the importance of nursery rhymes in early childhood development. Each year, five different rhymes are chosen for everyone to sing together. This year, we had Sing a Song of Sixpence, Humpty Dumpty, When I was One, I Hear Thunder and Two Little Dickie Birds. We loved learning all the rhymes and some of the ones we knew had a little twist added. Each day, we sang the rhyme and did a little activity to go with it. We even managed to throw in a little experiment to make our own clouds and rain. We finished off on Friday by getting our own little Dickie birds to take home. We also got special certificates for all our hard work!
