World Maths Day in Nursery!
25th Mar 2026
We have been doing lots of different activities today to celebrate World Maths Day! We started our day on a scavenger hunt! Mrs Birt hid our 10 number ducks all around our outdoor area and we had to find them! We checked by putting all the ducks in order to make sure they had all been found! We were practising number recognition, counting and matching at our Counting Cows activity. The poor animals had got separated and it was our job to put them back together! At our Counting Dino-Sorters station, we had to look at the number on the egg and see if we could find that amount of dinosaurs the same colour as the shell and put them inside the egg. There were some springy spiders in nursery today! These were used to try and catch some insects with numbers on them. This was a great activity for number recognition. We also had a Marble Run on the go! This proved very popular! The children had to roll their marble through an arch on the bridge. Each one had a different score. Some of the boys and girls caught on very quickly that the bigger number meant a higher score! After all that activity, we finished off our session with some counting songs at mat time! The boys and girls worked really hard today. Lots of great numeracy skills and vocabulary were on show! They were rewarded with a certificate for all their efforts!
