World Book Day Snowball Story

11th Mar 2026

For World Book Day, our school created its annual Snowball Story—and it was every bit as creative, chaotic and fun as it has always been!

A Snowball Story begins with one small idea. In our case, the starting point came straight from the imaginations of Primary 1, who created the opening scene. That idea was then “rolled” from class to class, with each year group adding its own twist, characters and surprises. Just like a snowball gathering speed as it tumbles down a hill, the story grew bigger, wilder and more imaginative as it travelled through the school.

This year’s tale began with a sneezing sky, an orange ball, and some very lively dinosaurs. By the time the story reached Primary 7, it had become a full adventure featuring: dinosaur battles, a penguin army, a daring spaceship rescue, an Arctic hamster named Chinio…all tied together in a wonderfully unexpected ending!

Each class contributed their own section without knowing which direction the next group would take it. The result was our final masterpiece, The Day the Sky Sneezed Dinosaurs, which was shared with the whole school. The pupils absolutely loved it—the hall was full of laughter, gasps and excitement as the story unfolded.

We also created an animation to bring the adventure to life, and we hope you enjoy it too!
