Whatever Happened to Humpty Dumpty?

19th Oct 2022

As part of our Procedural Writing, P3 had to choose some science experiements to carry out so that we  could write up the instructions for them. The first experiment that won the vote was the Humpty Dumpty experiement. We put our heads together to try and find a way to save Humpty from the terrible fate of being broken when he fell off the wall. We decided to wrap Humpty up in different materials to try to protect him when he fell and chose 8 different materials to try. We also decided that Humpty needed to be boiled first or Mr Gilchrist might have been finding runny egg yolk all over the school! So once Mrs Gibson boiled the eggs, we used markers to decorate them. We had to be very careful not to crack his shell when we were frawing his face. Then each team was given one of the materials we had chosen to use and had to wrap Humpty up in the best way they could think to try to protect him. Once wrapped, we each predicted what would happen to Humpty when he fell - would he crack or would he be saved. There was only one way to find out....so we brought all 8 Humpty eggs outside and dropped them off a wall. We listened really hard to try to hear if the egg had cracked. When we brought our eggs back inside, we had to unwrap them very carefully to see if our predictions were right. We had a cracking time!
