Welcoming new social interactions

15th May 2025

As we are a Specialist Provision for social and communication needs we strive to develop key social skills for our pupils every day. This week has given plenty of opportunities to do this through social interactions in play, cookery and creative aspects of the curriculum.

We were delighted to welcome a new pupil this week and have had lots of fun playing out side in this glorious weather with him. We have also welcomed some of our friends from the mainstream to join us for some group games and art sessions. This has allowed for lots of conversations and social interactions to flow in a safe and controlled environment.

In sensory cookery we had some messy and sticky fun making buns and delicious healthy chicken wraps for Healthy Wednesday.

In PE we enjoyed playing the floor is LAVA, challenging us to move around obstacles and safe movement at different heights.

We were set a challenge to make parachutes in STEM and compare design components to see which would fly best. We put them to the test in the classroom to see if they had a soft landing.

We love working on Minecraft Education and have created worlds to join each other to complete tasks. This allowed us to develop team work skills along with communication skills.

As our topic is 'Water' we enjoyed creating beautiful watercolour paintings based on the work of Monet. We had great discussions of how to create tones and use different brush strokes and even our fingers!
