Wednesday's Great Growers and Gardeners!

6th May 2020

It is great to see everyone making the most of the wonderful sunshine and learning lots of new skills in their homes and gardens. Cody (P5) and Olly (P2) have been very busy weeding, planting, growing and watering their plants. They also sent in a little ' Lockdown Gardening ' video. Fantasic work boys! Cora (P4) and Hollie (P2) have been planting seed potatoes and watching them grow. Brilliant girls! Isla (P1) has joined the 'Flower Fairies and Flower Pot Crew' who have magically been hanging their 'Flower Buckets of Happiness' at the bottom of the Windmill Hill near the school. Isla decided on some pretty red flowers for her green bucket.Terrific Isla! We will soon have a 'Rainbow of Colour' there. Leah (Nursery) picked flowers from her garden for her May Altar. She also planted some seeds and has enjoyed taking care of them. With a little help from her Mum, she made her very own magic beans and very tall beanstalk to go alongside her Nursery work on 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. Superb Leah! Holly (P3) has also been a very busy little 'Maker, Grower and Learner' with lovely May Altar work, reading, art and computer work. Beautiful Holly! Jamie (P5) has also been in touch to say that he is really enjoying the outdoor sunshine and has found time to help paint the fence at his house.Great work Jamie! Linda from our school canteen has also taken up some gardening in recent times with tomato, basil and lettuce plants well on their way to wonderful dishes. Thanks Linda! Caiti, one of our classroom assistants has also been keeping busy with wonderful flower themed pebble art work. Lovely Caiti! We also received a little photograph from the 'Portaferry in Bloom' gardeners today. They have been keeping our outdoor classroom in tip, top shape. We really appreciate all that you do for us. John Gerard (P7), Eimear (P6) and Kate (P2) have been enjoying the outdoor life with lots of gardening this week too. Wonderful folks! Kian (P6) has been planting and taking care of his celery plants too. Brilliant Kian! Thank you to our young gardeners, parents, staff and community groups for all your help.
