Thursday's Great Growers and Gardeners!

7th May 2020

Lee (P2), Francis (P5) and Nicole (P6) have been very busy gardeners! They worked hard tending to their raspberry and strawberry plants. Great work folks and no doubt some lovely fruit salads and fruit smoothies in the pipeline. Jay (P4) planted some flower seeds and can't wait to see if they will grow to be as beautiful as the picture on the seed packet. I'm sure they will Jay! Superb gardening! Cara (P6), Alice (P4), Meabh (P1) and Aoife (Nursery) have also been very planting, watering and weeding their strawberry plants and tidying up their plant pots. They look beautiful girls! Mrs Birt was also in touch today to say that she has given the job of 'chief gardener' to her son and that they are making wonderful progress with the gardening especially their pot plants. Terrific! Niamh (P4) sent in a lovely photograph of her wooden plant stand made by her grandad, painted and planted up by her family. What lovely memories! Linda from the school canteen sent in even more delightful gardening photographs. Thank you! A special little photograph for Caleb and Chloe (P7) who represented our school alongside Miss Green and Mrs O'Neill at the BBC Gardeners' Corner recording in Portaferry. A lovely evening was had with the panel of experts from Mount Stewart, Rowallane Gardens and other community groups. David Maxwell , the gardener and presenter has promised to come to our school and gardens when the time is right. We hope that you have been inspired this week and that you have enjoyed the beauty of nature in your own garden. It's the final day of the 'Grow' challenge tomorrow. Send all 'Grow' photographs to aoneill392@c2kni.net
