As part of our topic work we are looking at the World Around Us and starting with our own locality.
Children worked in groups to try and accurately place the locations and descriptions of the six counties, Belfast, Portaferry, Slemish Mountain, Giant's Causeway, Marble-Arch Caves, River Lagan, Lough Neagh and the Mourne Mountains.
To make it more competitive children were timed and given a point for each place correctly identified. There were 20 points up for grabs!
5 teams took part.
The times ranged from 2 minutes 37 seconds to over 4 minutes to place the loactions.
Points ranged from 6 correctly identified to the highest 12.
The children really enjoyed the activity and as we continue to work on the topic they will learn more about their immediate locality and beyond.
