This week, we have been exploring the world of veterinary medicine, with our children discovering the vital work that veterinary nurses and surgeons do every day. In our ‘Meadow Surgical Floor’, the children played the part of skills veterinary surgeons, tending to their beloved soft toys, which needed a bit of care and attention. With bandages, splits, plasters and intubation kits (alongside a fully PPE kitted surgical outfit), the children practiced surgical role play. Each student learned some new vocabulary, enhancing communication skills and we explored the different things necessary to look after an animal. Watching them engage wholeheartedly reminded us of how curious and eager to learn the children are.
