Now that we have received our Student Council badges and visited all the classes to introduce ourselves and give our acceptance speeches, it was time to get down to business!
After some initial discussions, we decided that the Student Council’s starting point this year should be to find out how happy all the pupils of St. Mary’s are in school. It was agreed that we should distribute a wellbeing questionnaire to each class and decide a time frame with the teacher, in which it would be completed.
On Monday we met in the staff room with the completed questionnaires. We read each one and made a note of any comments that had been given by individual children. We now have a clear picture of how the pupils of St.Mary’s feel about school and we already have some excellent suggestions about areas of school life where we could make improvements.
Our next meeting will focus on these suggestions and how to move forward by speaking to Mr Gilchrist and members of the teaching and non teaching staff. We look forward to making our voice heard, and being excellent representatives for our class and ambassadors for our school.
