First of all, we’d like to wish a special ‘Happy Birthday’ to Daithi (P5). Daithi celebrated his 9th birthday yesterday and although it was a bit different to other birthdays, his mum tells me that they had an extra special day. Thank you for your photo Daithi, we hope that you enjoyed your day!
Today is our final day of ‘Space Week’ at St. Mary’s. We hope that you have enjoyed learning all about space. We certainly enjoyed seeing all of your pictures and videos of all your brilliant work. It’s lovely to know we have so many future scientists and science enthusiasts in our school!
First up, Charlotte (P6) has sent in a picture of her fantastic model of the solar system. Charlotte has been so busy this week, making plaster moulds of each planet and carefully painting each one. We think all the hard work was definitely worth it and hope that you had fun making it! Bella (nursery) also got involved and made some of her own space themed plaster moulds!
We also have a picture of Cassie (P5) and Luis (P3) learning all about space together. As well, the birthday boy Daithi (P5) and Callie (Nursery) have had lots of fun learning about the solar system. Daithi has produced a diagram of all the planets in our solar system and Callie has made a brilliant little rocket! Another busy worker this week was Ruari. Ruairi has been working through his space themed maths activity book and has made a 2D space firework rocket. I hear his favourite sheet was the roll the dice and add colour because he beat Mum at it! Can also had great fun carry out his galaxy bottle experiment.
Finally, we have some pictures of the Collins family who have been exploring space together all week. The girls enjoyed making ‘galaxy jars’ and art work all about space. Aoife made her own rocket, which she launched herself! Cara, Alice, Meabh and Aoife revamped Cara's rocket from her space theme in P3 with Mrs Gibson and with the help of their Daddy, the girls half-filled the bottle with water and used his air compressor to fill it with air which made it take off. They had to experiment a few times so they could get the water level right to get as high as possible and the rocket was ready for take-off. Looks like great fun girls!!
