St. Mary's recently took part in our first public speaking event.
The boys and girls from P6 and P7 planned, wrote and then delivered their persuasive writing arguments for and against in four topics;
“Should children be allowed mobile phones in school?”
“Should children be allowed to play video games?”
“Weekends should be three days long!”
“Break times should be longer!”
P7 wrote arguments for and P6 countered these with arguments against.
P5 were invited as audience members and cast their votes in favour of the argument that swayed them most. It was a very evenly matched debate and each class were voted to have won 2 arguments, a very fair draw!! The points made by both classes were very well researched and delivered confidently.
