P6/7 Take Flight at the Ulster Aviation Society ✈️🛫🛬🚁
As part of our current “Flight” topic, P6 and P7 pupils enjoyed an exciting and educational trip to the Ulster Aviation Society. The visit brought our classroom learning to life as pupils explored the fascinating world of aviation up close.
During the trip, the children had the opportunity to climb aboard real aircraft, learn about the history of flight, and discover how planes have developed from early designs to modern jets. They were amazed by the scale of the hangars and loved seeing the cockpits, engines and helicopters up close.
The knowledgeable volunteers at the Aviation Society shared interesting facts about famous aircraft and pilots, linking perfectly to the science and technology behind how things fly — from lift and thrust to design and innovation.
This hands-on experience should inspire lots of curiosity and discussion back in school, and will feed directly into our ongoing art, literacy, and STEM projects on the theme of flight.
It was a fantastic day of learning and adventure — one that truly helped our pupils’ imaginations take off!!
