Today we carried out an experiment to help us understand the concepts of evaporation, condensation and precipitation. We used a clear zip lock bag and drew a diagram of the water cycle in permanent market.
Next, we filled the bag with water (and some blue dye) to create a water source. Finally, we taped the bag to the window to provide a source of heat and sunlight. As the day went on, we noticed little sections of steam in the bag (condensation) and droplets of water (precipitation). We discussed how this was similar to how the sun evaporates water to form clouds and then finally produces rain.
