Primary Four kicked off World Maths Day in style this morning as they all logged into Mathletics and entered the Mathletics ‘Live Maths’ competition against lots of children from all around the world. During this competition our P3-P7 children are required to complete 20 Live Maths games today at home and in school. Parents, check with your child if they have ’Live Maths’ games to complete at home this evening. A lot of our P4s even managed to use their brilliant quick mental maths skills and strategies to get into the Mathletics Hall of Fame!🌟
When the children got back to class, there were ‘Real Life’ scenarios set up for them. They had a Toy Shop and a Market Shop. The boys and girls were each given purses and wallets of real coins to count, had to decide on who was being the cashier and the customers. They had to work out totals, issue receipts, give change and work out best value. Then the cashier had to bank the money for their daily sales. The lesson ended with a great plenary where the children worked on ‘Topmarks - Money Games’. What an active learning morning! Well done P4!🌟
