P4 ‘Whatever the Weather’ topic work!☔️☀️🌨

23rd Feb 2026

Primary Four have been busy working through their ‘Whatever the Weather’ WAU topic in recent weeks. The enjoyed finding, reading and researching fact and fictional books based on many different weather conditions. They focused a lot of their learning on their award winning class book ‘Rhythm of the Rain’ which told the story of a little boy called Isaac and his jar of water. This jar of water travelled through streams, rivers, seas, oceans, cities, towns and villages and helped explain the scientific concept of The Water Cycle through beautiful words and illustrations.

As a cross-curricular link to Music and Art, the children used percussion instruments to represent the sounds and sights of the journey of the water jar. They also used oil pastels to recreate some of the weather conditions. Joe from The Ash Class joined in these beautiful lessons too.

For Religion, it has been really busy as the class learned about Lent, prepared for their Trocaire Skip-a-thon fundraiser, sang their songs for Enrolment and tied in their WAU topic to the bible story of ‘Noah’s Ark and The Great Flood’ with fantastic watercolour and poster paint character work as well as STEM ‘Rocking Arks’.

Mrs O’Neill said a big thank you this week to Shena, the P4 classroom assistant and Miss Henning, the P4 student teacher who helped the class bring all this wonderful learning together.
