P4 Readers, Mathematicans and Artists!

7th Jun 2022

As we move through June and towards the end of Key Stage One we are becoming much more independent with our work. We have been learning how important it is to learn our 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x and 10x tables so that we can use them to solve so many number and word problems. We have started our Division topic and are finding so many connections with our times tables! Mathletics really helps us work on all areas of Maths at home and in school. Parents can help us explore Mathletics and progress even further through our tasks, quests, ‘Live Maths’ and ‘Rainforest Maths’. There are also many songs, videos and workbooks available for use at home on Mathletics now and over the summer months too.

With preparations for Sports Day on Friday moving on a pace, we are delighted to be taking part in the track events and then joining Key Stage 2 for the basketball shot, hurley shot, penalty shoot out and standing long jump so it is important to get lots of practice during this lovely weather. We have had lots of fun working on our Sports Day banner and on other Art activities too.

In P4 we know the importance of reading for developing our language, grammar and comprehension skills. We must continue to read and discuss our books with an adult each evening at home. We really look forward to our visit to Portaferry Library on Monday where we will focus on the importance of fact books and fictional stories. We continue to work hard to independently access our comprehension quizzes on Accelerated Reader in school too.

Keep up the great work at home and in school P4!
