Primary Four learned about the Lenten tradition of Shrove Tuesday today. They also learned about ‘Pancake Fractions’ as they discussed the WHOLE pancake, sliced it equally into two HALVES, sliced each HALF into QUARTERS and finally sliced each QUARTER into EIGHTHS! They even went as far as seeing and talking about equivalent fractions in that two quarters matched one half, that two eighths matched a quarter and that four eighths matched one half. Such a clever bunch of children in P4! When the fraction work was complete, the boys and girls enjoyed some sweet toppings on their pancakes. The class will definitely be ready to begin their new Maths topic of Division very soon.
