P4 Outdoor Classroom Day 🌟🌸
Primary Four celebrated Outdoor Classroom Day today by linking their new World Around Us topic ‘What a Waste’ to environmental issues. The children learned the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling, the ways in which litter and pollution can be taken care of, sustainable forms of energy and the importance of planting to produce plants and trees for the future.
The class took part in a STEM challenge where they had to create their very own windmill as a follow-up activity to reading about ‘Energy’ in fact and fictional books. The children enjoyed working together, improving their creations and trying out their windmills in the playground. Video footage below.
To help enhance the entrance of the school, the children planted dwarf daffodil bulbs in the P4 buckets and in the large terracotta pots. Lucia visited Mount Stewart recently and brought in some acorns, pine cones and apple seeds for the class to plant too. Everyone will enjoy watching the progress of these seeds, plants and saplings over the next few months.
Finally, Mrs O’Neill and Shena presented everyone in P4 with their ‘Outdoor Classroom Day’ certificate. Well done boys and girls.🌟
