P4 Loving Life and Learning Lots!🌟

18th Apr 2023

A big welcome back to P4 from Mrs O’Neill as they embark on yet another busy term. Mathletics tasks have been updated with a focus on 3D shape this week. When completed, the P4 pupils can continue to work on ‘Explore’ and ‘Rainforest Maths’ to help add to their Maths skills. They enjoyed working on Mathletics on the big Interactive Touch Screen Board and also worked on counting coins and cash in Money worded questions from their textbooks in class. Lots of revision in all Maths areas 'is the name of the game’ for the new term ahead.

Spellings this week focused on the g, gg and gh sound in words. Comprehension work for the next few weeks will be based on factual texts and this will compliment their WAU topic ‘Bugs, Beasts and Gardening’. Today P4 completed a lovely piece on ‘Butterflies’ after they researched minibeasts on the c2k Newsdesk.

At ‘Reading Time’ they all enjoyed their favourite books from the class library. Everything from comics to poetry books, storybooks to historical fact books, autobiographies to skills books and especially books about looking after planet Earth. An appropriate choice given that ‘Earth Day’ will be celebrated around the world this Saturday.

For ‘Grow in Love’ the boys and girls visited the chapel to celebrate the risen Jesus and sat by the tomb. They also learned about Pentecost Sunday when the Holy Spirit appeared to the apostles. All this with preparations for First Holy Communion coming along nicely too.

PE will continue for P4 on Wednesdays and Fridays with lots in store including outdoor learning, The Daily Mile and preparations for Sports Day. Keep up the great work P4!
