P4 Literacy and Numeracy Fun!🌟📚🌻
P4 enjoyed lots of fantastic Literacy and Numeracy lessons in the last few days. They worked on reading and spelling important high frequency words and were re-introduced to Linguistic Phonics with the focus on the ‘o’ sound, made in multiple ways including o, oa, or, ow, ou and o-e. Such a lot of ways to make and spell one sound! Guided Reading continued on from individual and group readers and their class book ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch’. Cross-curricular writing was evident through WAU and Grow in Love.
Numeracy took the form of lots of revision of addition, subtraction and worded problem-solving in the classroom and outdoors. From ‘Maths Wall’ work to workbook activities and Mathletics to even measuring the height of the P4 sunflowers, the boys and girls showed great enthusiasm for all things numerical and mathematical.
Homework begins this week for P4 with reading, spelling, New Wave Maths & English as well as Grow in Love. For now, we hope that you log on to Mathletics with your child and enjoy exploring all the wonderful activities, challenges and resources on offer in the program. Keep up the great work P4! Mrs O’Neill and Shena are very proud of you all.🌟
