P4 Engineering Experts!🌟⛴

23rd Oct 2025

Primary Four completed their ‘Rescue at Sea’ topic today with a wonderful STEM challenge. They used their tin foil boats to check for buoyancy, flotation and load-bearing. The children discussed their designs, the shape and length of their boats and predicted how many cubes they could carry before sinking. Well done to Nancy whose boat was able to hold 122 cubes! This activity helped with science, technology, engineering, maths skills and brought so much fun and laughter. The children also completed wonderful factual comprehension pieces based on their topic and brought in the last of their 3d lighthouse models.

During classroom ICT lessons, the children examined the significance of Halloween and investigated written facts, poems and artwork associated with Halloween on the c2k NewsDesk using the Immersive Reader function. They discussed the changing of the clocks this weekend and how this will mean longer, darker evenings perfect for visiting the library, reading a good book or a little bit of Mathletics! Mrs O’Neill gave everyone a large reflective badge as the children read about the importance of road and firework safety.

Finally, a big thank you to Shena and Finn for creating the P4 ‘Halloween Boo Door’. P4 also received a special certificate from the PSG for their wonderful fundraising during ‘Coin Wars’.

Well done and Happy Halloween everyone!🌟🎉
