P4 had a head start to the LibrariesNI summer reading challenge with a special delivery of loaned books, leaflets and stickers from Portaferry Library over the recent break. This year the reading challenge is called ‘Ready, Steady, Read’ and aims to get the children reading as many books as possible in June, July and August. Parents, just read all the information in the leaflet which has been sent home with your child and pop along to the library to join up at any time. Children can collect stickers, activity sheets and have their poster stamped for every book they read. As the P4 children move into their final weeks and written homework decreases, it is important to keep up the reading and Mathletics momentum so that the boys and girls maintain their wonderful standards prior to working on the increased independence needed for Key Stage Two. There is no better place to help with reading skills than repeated visits to our very own Portaferry Library where the children can avail of so much expertise, access so many amazing books, activities and computer time. Good luck everyone as you encourage your child to embark on such a worthwhile challenge and develop lifelong reading and comprehension skills.
