Oobleck Ice Cream
6th Jun 2025
Today in the specialist provision classroom, we played ice cream shop. We made oobleck, a fascinating substance, which magically turns from a liquid to a solid with just a touch. Using various ice cream related items including cones, sprinkles, serving bowls and spoons, the classroom transformed into a bustling role-play ice cream shop. Within our shop, we were able to strengthen our social skills, as the children took on the roles of both servers and customers. We then mixed paint to experiment with creating different colours, connecting these hues to the yummy ice cream flavours. It was a vibrant mess of fun, and the sheer excitement painted everyone’s faces with smiles.
Numeracy skills came to life as our chefs carefully used scales to weigh and measure ingredients for their imaginative recipes. This hands-on approach reinforced their understanding of weights and measures, while also encouraging them to follow the written instructions.
