Numeracy in Action through Play
The children in Ash class have been busy developing their problem-solving and critical thinking skills during a thinking through play numeracy session. As part of their challenge, pupils were asked to design and build a mini beast house for their bug cubes. They had to carefully consider how to protect their mini beasts from the sun and wind, encouraging them to think about structure, size and placement creatively.
The children had to plan and construct their designs, showcasing fantastic imagination and perseverance. It was great to see how they applied numeracy skills in a real and meaningful context, with pupils, using measurement, positioning, and reasoning skills throughout the activity.
