25th May 2020

I trust everyone is enjoying this different Bank Holiday weekend. One person who is really enjoying today is Lochlan (P4) who is celebrating his birthday. I love your cake! Also yesterday Alice (P4) was celebrating her 8th birthday and she tells me she had a wonderful day video calling her friend Aine and painting pottery. On behalf of all of us at St Mary’s, Happy Birthday to Alice and Lochlan.

Over the last few days more people have been visiting the school and leaving their ribbons. Belle (P1) loved seeing all the ribbons and she mentioned that her favourite one was the sparkly one. She tied up a lovely blue and yellow ribbon and loved watching it blow in the wind. Belle also tells me she received a lovely letter from her best friend Meabh with a gorgeous bracelet and some sweeties inside. How kind of Meabh to do this to cheer up her friend. Lucy (P6), Caitlin (P4), Meabh (P3), Chritian (P7) and Hollie (P2) also put up their ribbons on the school railings. Christian and Hollie also sent some pictures of their nature walk. Orna (P4) and Cliodhna (P2) sent on pictures of their very impressive art work. Orna has been working hard on a canvas she made and Cliodhna was working extremely hard on her drawings. The girls are really missing school, their teachers and all their friends.

In Nursery this week the topic is ‘What the Ladybird Heard.’ Tom (Nursery) is delighted with this as this is one of Tom’s favourite stories. He has had great fun making his own ladybirds and going on a hunt in the garden to find some ladybirds and other insects. Well done Tom and I hope you found some ladybirds in the garden.

Finally, last week you will remember that Daithi decided to raise money for AWARE NI. Well, yesterday he completed his challenge and climbed 360 flights of stairs in his own hone. Congratulations Daithi and he wants to thank everyone for their support. We are all very proud of you Daithi.

Remember to keep sending any of your pictures to pgilchrist570@c2kni.net
