18th May 2020

Today we are celebrating two birthdays in Primary 5. On Saturday Francis celebrated his birthday with a family party and playing with new games that he got. He was a very happy boy! Today (Monday) it is Cahlie’s birthday and again she is celebrating with her family and hopefully getting very spoilt! Happy Birthday to you both and don’t forget, if your child is celebrating a birthday over the next few weeks, be sure to get in contact.

This week has been set aside as “Mental Health Awareness Week” and this year it has a particular significance. The theme for this week is “Kindness” and demonstrating an act of Kindness can take many forms. By demonstrating this kindness we are letting others know how kindness has had a positive effect on our mental health.

We encourage you all to get involved and to share with us the great things you are doing at home or in the garden. There are some ideas attached but you can be as creative as you wish. The possibilities are endless and we’d love to see what people come up with!  All I ask is that you take a picture or video of your actions and I will spread the joy and kindness on our school web site for all to share. Please send all to pgilchrist570@c2kni.net

I am just wondering who will be the first to tie a coloured ribbon to the school railings?

Our first act of kindness was shown by Cahlie (P5) and Harrison (P2). Their friend Lily-May (P5) got to touch to say that she and her little sister received a very special package in the post of a letter written by Cahlie and Harrison. Lily May and her sister want to let them know that they were so happy to hear from their friends and to thank them for their act of kindness!

Ben (P5) also got in touch today to let us know that he is almost finished his David Walliam’s book, “Grandpa's Great Escape.” This morning, he was busy with his school work but he couldn't wait to show us the picture he took of the whales who paid a visit to Strangford Lough on Friday night. Like everyone else, Ben was so excited to see them and got a very good glimpse of them.

Take care and keep your photographs coming. Lets share our kindness to all in our schooling community this week.
