Mini beast Madness in Nursery!
We have been learning all about mini beasts in nursery. We learnt new songs - Five Little Caterpillars and Butterfly, Ladybird and Bumblebee. We listened to the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We are now able to do the Makaton signs for some creatures and we have got very good at remembering these! We have studied the life cycle of the butterfly and know all the different stages. During our craft work we painted ladybirds and bees. We made snails during our Plant & Play Workshop. We also made our own caterpillars and butterflies. Outside, we have been using magnifying glasses and binoculars to see if we could find any little insects. They like dark spots, like under our tyres. We also used books and plastic mini beasts to find out more about them. Mrs Birt set us a challenge. We had to see if we could free some worms! The fake worms were in containers. They had jelly and Coco pops on top of them. We had to use tweezers to see if we could free them all! There was great communication, team work and fine motor skills on show. Each group had to rescue six worms, so they had to count to make sure they had found them all. The mission was successful and all worms were rescued!
