Mathematics Round-Up🌟🎉

24th Oct 2025

As we draw towards the Halloween break, it is important to acknowledge and celebrate the wonderful work which has been going on throughout our school as regards Mathematics & Numeracy. With the work ethic of our pupils, support from parents and unwavering commitment of our assistants and teachers, our pupils have been provided with a vast array of mathematical and numerical learning experiences in daily class work, home learning and certainly during Maths Week.

Our youngest nursery and Foundation stage pupils have enjoyed many practical indoor and outdoor lessons, play based ‘Thinking through Play’ activities alongside nursery rhyme, story work, using manipulatives, learning to form and consolidate numerals, shapes etc.

In Key Stage One, our pupils also experienced indoor and outdoor learning, problem-solving investigations, were introduced and re-introduced to Mathletics, apps and websites, used manipulatives, took part in Maths Week, enjoyed STEM activities, utilised ‘Five Minute Numeracy Boxes’, completed workbook and textbook activities and learned how to record their work in an organised way.

Life in Key Stage Two has been busy with preparation for SEAG, using Mathletics, taking part in Maths Week, using the Anton app, Times Tables Rockstars, Tables Blast, Just2Easy app, Live Maths challenges, problem-solving investigations, workbook, textbook and STEM activities to name but a few.

We are delighted with the Mathletics progress to date. At the beginning of September, the average correct answers for Mathletics stood at 82.4%. It is now at an amazing 93.4%, an increase of 11% this early in the year. Well done everyone! The children have gained 255,280 Participation Points, 14,037 Curriculum Points, 151 Bronze Certificates, 15 Silver Cerificates and 2 Gold Certificates. The time spent at home on Mathletics matches the time spent on it in school which is testament to parental support.

Mathletics will continue to be available over the Halloween break. There are many parental and pupil support systems in ‘Resources’ on Mathletics, in ‘Links’ and in ‘Curriculum’ on the school website too.
