We are taking part in World Nursery Rhyme Week and one of our rhymes is I Hear Thunder. Even though we have had plenty of rain lately, we wanted to see if we could make it rain in nursery! We needed clear jugs almost full of water, shaving foam, food colouring and a dropper. Mrs Birt added shaving foam to the jug. This was acting as our cloud. We talked about the different types of clouds and how they change colour when it’s going to rain. We needed to add ‘water’ to our cloud so we used blue food colouring. Mrs Birt added a few drops to each jug and we waited patiently to see what would happen! It wasn’t long before it started to ‘rain’. There were squeals of delight! The children loved watching the drops of colour come out of the cloud. They kept checking the jugs as our session went on and it really wasn’t long before the water was blue. It must have been a heavy shower!
