Friday's Magnificent Makers - Part 2

24th Apr 2020

What a response to our 'Make,Bake, Grow and Learn Challenge!' this week. Thank you so much to everyone who took part and sent in their pictures. We are delighted that we are able to inspire, share and celebrate the array of many skills, talents, family bonding and learning with you all during this very uncertain time. The smiles from the children and the happiness they exude bring a little extra colour to everyone from the 'St.Mary's family' at this time.

Liam (P3) made a wonderful wooden bird house with his Dad. I am reliably informed that Cormac (P6) has big plans to make something this weekend but is waiting on supplies. Fantastic woodwork skills Liam and we can't wait to see the other creations! Orna (P4) and Cliodhna (P2) made even more colourful rocks to add to their collection. Keep them safe girls as we can add them to our 'Positivity Pathway' as part of our school outdoor enhancement project. Cain (P6) and Niamh (P4) have been busy making a project about the 'Titanic'. Niamh even designed a newspaper front cover page which told the story. Family projects are such a good idea as everyone can get involved and learn lots of new things. Lochlan (P4) has been busy making up a new mini greenhouse for his garden. He is looking forward to tending to his tomato plants and watching them grow. Brilliant making Lochlan. Ava (P3) has been helping her dad put down a wooden floor and Jay (P4) decided to use up all his Easter chocolate with cornflake Easter nests. Yum, yum!

The Collin's family have been extremely busy this week. Cara (P6) and Alice (P4) were making field drains to improve their fields and also help to build a steel bridge to access unused land surrounded their fields. They were joined by their sister Aoife (Nursery) and Meabh (P1) to collect rubbish from the Lough Shore close to their home.

The Keating family; Francis, Nicole and Lee made pancakes and loved putting chocolate spread and strawberry jam on top! and finally we have inspired Mr Gilchrist to become a 'Maker/Gardener'. With the help of his daughter Aisling, he has made a vegetable plot that he looks forward to planting up soon. Thank you all for your amazing participation in the 'Make, Bake, Grow and Learn' Challenge to date and that finishes our 'Make' week today. Get thinking and organising for the 'Brilliant Bakers' Challenge next week.
