Literacy work on Speech Marks
A huge well done to P6 for their brilliant group work during literacy! Each group worked together to say a sentence aloud, listening carefully to how it sounded and where natural pauses or changes in tone occurred. Then, using cut-out punctuation marks—like full stops, commas, question marks, and speech marks—they visually explored where each mark should go. This hands-on method helped them understand how punctuation brings clarity and expression to writing, just like in a real novel.
It was fantastic to see every pupil contributing, discussing, and agreeing on how to punctuate each sentence. They showed great teamwork and attention to detail. Their enthusiasm made the activity a real success. Keep it up, P6—your punctuation skills will grow stronger every day!
