Investigating coins

16th Jan 2020

In maths we are learning about money. We know that Mum needs money to buy us food and nice clothes. Sometimes Mum or Dad get paper money from the bank.  Some grownups go to work to earn money.

We investigated coins by sorting them into different sets. Some were circle shapes, some had 7 sides and are called heptagons. Some were copper coloured, some were silver and some were a golden colour.

We had fun playing with the coins. We can use them in our pretend shop in the roleplay area. We know the shopkeeper sometimes has to give change, when we pay for something. It is important to know how much things cost, to make sure we have enough money to pay for them.
