Green Flag Success!

1st Jun 2026

We are delighted to announce that our school has been proudly awarded the Eco-Schools Green Flag for 2025–2026! This fantastic achievement recognises the hard work and dedication of our entire school community in promoting sustainability and caring for our environment.

This special milestone was celebrated at a prestigious awards ceremony, where we joined other successful schools from across the region. Mr Smyth (Eco Co-ordinator) and Mr Gilchrist (Principal) attended the Green Flag award ceremony at Elim Church in Bangor along with members of our Eco Council. It was a wonderful opportunity to share our success and to meet the Mayor of Ards and North Down Borough Council, who congratulated all schools on their commitment to environmental responsibility. They particularly liked how well we embedded our Outdoor Learning into the curriculum and vast number of gardening awards achieved this year.

A heartfelt thank you and special mention to Mr Smyth, our Eco Schools Co-Ordinator for all his efforts in achieving this award, our pupil led Eco Council, staff, parents, Board of Governors, and the wider local community. Your continued support and teamwork have made this achievement possible.

We were also delighted to welcome and work alongside representatives from Exploris, Portaferry In Bloom, and Ard and North Down and Newry, Mourne and Down Council staff. Their expertise and encouragement greatly enhanced our Eco topics and supported our successful Green Flag application.

We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved together and look forward to continuing our journey towards a greener, more sustainable future.
