Gravity and Planets Experiement
21st Nov 2025
Within Ash class, the children recently took part in a wonderful hands-on STEM activity, diving into the fascinating world of gravitational pull and planetary science.
In a lesson designed to spark curiosity and enhance practical numeracy skills, the children explored how weight and surface area influence the landing of objects. By dropping different sized/weighted balls into sand, the children observed and discussed how each ball landed. The children were able to make comments about how wide or how deep the indents were, as well as observe changes in textures of the balls.
The activity provided the perfect opportunity for them to understand the concepts that govern the movement of planets and how gravity pays a pivotal role in Space. Our budding scientists were thoroughly engaged, asking insightful questions and making amazing observations. Their enthusiasm and curiosity shone through this experiment, laying the groundwork for a deeper understanding of space.
