Fun in the sun🌞 SP2

19th Jun 2025

Today we took the opportunity to enjoy some fun in the sun by walking to the park and getting an ice-cream. We were on the look out for the new baby dolphin but we had no luck.

Keeping with the sunshine theme we made lemonade from fresh lemons. This was hard work and used lots of our fine motor skills to squeeze the lemons.

We have been working very hard to tend to our seeds we planted last week and we were delighted to come back in from the weekend and see sprouts of leaves.

As part of our outdoor learning we went on a mini beast hunt and used microscopes to spot specific features of these creatures.

In maths we have been doing lots of practical estimating and measuring using metre sticks.

For STEM we carried out an experiment called ‘Drops on Pennies’ testing surface tense of water. We had to use careful hands to test how much water we could drop on the surface without it spilling over the sides. Then we added washing up liquid and we noticed we couldn’t get as many drops, as the molecules broke apart easier.
