Friday Celebrations

3rd Sep 2021

It has been a very busy week in school with staff and pupils readjusting to school life after the summer holidays. However, it has been a great week in school, especially hearing all of the exciting news and chatter from all of our pupils about their exploits over the summer. They certainly appear to have had a great summer and all appear to be delighted to be back to school.

As it is Friday we took the opportunity, in this dry weather, to gather outside for a beginning of the new year assembly. We began by welcoming all of the pupils back for another year and making special mention to our Primary 1 boys and girls who were joining us for their first assembly. We also congratulated Mrs Fowler on her recent marriage and welcoming Miss McErlean who has joined the teaching staff to teach Primary 5 along with Mr Gilchrist.

Once again we gave out our Friday Pupil of the Week certificates. The theme for this month of September is "Continuing to show Brilliant Behaviour to All." This week the certificates went to Alfie (P1), Leah (P2), Oisin (P3), Darragh (P4), Sean (P5), Alice (P6) and Jamie (P7). We will be starting our House Teams and assigning pupils to their house colours next week and keeping you all up-to-date with how each team is performing.

We are very appreciative thankful to a number of people who gave up their time during the summer holidays to improve the outside schooling environment for us all to enjoy. In particular Jamie, who designed and drew a magnificent new mural that welcomes our pupils and visitors into the front entrance of our school. Also to Portaferry GAC who donated a new set of gaelic nets and in particular Gerard, Brian, Paud and Vincent who cut and marked out a pitch for all of our pupils to enjoy. We look forward to many matches and coaching sessions being enjoyed on this pitch in the future.

Enjoy your weekend.
