Fact and Opinion Work In P5

15th Jan 2026

The P5 children enjoyed exploring the concept of fact and opinion. They were confidently able to determine that a fact was something that could be proven and an opinion was more of a personal point of view. The boys and girls worked collaboratively with their classmates at their table. They were each provided with a number of statements and they had to debate whether it was a fact or opinion.  As a follow up activity, the children were tasked with finding 10 facts from the last two chapters of our class novel ‘Mr Skip’ and reflect on 10 personal opinions that they had about subjects in their own personal lives. An enjoyable but effective lesson before we move onto writing a non- chronological report on Egypt.
