This week the boys and girls have been exploring Fractions. Mr Smyth was very impressed with the children’s understanding of Fractions. They were able to determine that Fractions are indeed part of something and not a whole number. They used smarties as a teaching aid to explore the concept of Fractions. Firstly, the children had to count the number of sweets in their pack, sort them into their colours and make fractions for each colour. Finally, we took part in some practical folding and realised that halves break into quarters and quarters break into eighths. Lots of active learning in P5!
