As part of Eco Week and to celebrate Earth Day, we spent the morning outside in the P1 garden getting close to nature. Before we left our classroom we made sure to turn off all the lights and computers so that we were not wasting electricity as this was a special Power Down Day in our school.
P1 really enjoyed the Eco Council’s assembly yesterday on ways to reduce our carbon footprint and we had a lot of discussion about how we would like make our earth happy and not sad. When we went outside we drew a big map of the world, coloured the oceans in blue and filled in the land areas with green leaves and petals, as we know plants are something that makes our earth happy. We sorted pictures and talked about how recycling is good but waste is bad. We painted beautiful pictures on stones and made a huge symmetrical butterfly on the ground.
We are going to continue to be Eco Warriors in Primary 1 and look after our beautiful world as best we can. 🌏
