Celebrating Safer Internet Day 2026

17th Feb 2026

Today our school community came together to celebrate Safer Internet Day 2026, and what a remarkable day it has been. The activities engaged our students’ understanding of internet safety, a crucial skill in today’s digital world. First we listened to a presentation by Miss McCarthy, who discussed how we can stay safe online, as well as showing us how AI can help support our learning. The P7 children then led a discussion about internet safety and using AI. It was amazing to see them leading the discussion with confidence and knowledge, inspiring the younger classes to think deeply about these important issues. As Dreamscape Ambassadors, the P7 children are able to act as role models for all of us. Following the discussion, the the entire school participated in a game of “Who wanted to be a Digital Citizen?”, themed around being responsible digital citizens. This interactive, student made challenge, helped solidify their understanding of internet safety practices while having fun. The day was filled with learning and conversations about staying safe online and responsible use of AI. Our goal at St. Mary’s is to empower children to make smart choices and navigate the online world with confidence and awareness. By linking activities to Safer Internet Day 2026, we reinforce the message of digital safety both at school and home.
