Castle Espie treated to a visit by P2 and P3 Ornithologists!

1st Apr 2026

P2 and P3 had a wonderful trip to Castle Espie yesterday and showcased their knowledge of the Brent Geese to our guide John! We learned about the different wildfowl in the ponds and explored their feeding habits through a fun face-off competition. We saw some resident Brent Geese and then had an inter-active lesson on the migration of the geese in the viewing gallery. Next we went on a forest walk and learned how birds build their nests. The children were split into 2 groups and then competed to forage and build the best nest.
We didn’t get to feed the birds because of AI restrictions but hopefully that will be lifted soon.
The final surprise was free passes to Castle Espie for both classes and their families!
