Primary Five had a very busy start to the week with our new ‘Money’ topic and commencing coaching lessons with Danny Toner.
We are very impressed with the knowledge that the boys and girls had about currencies from different Countries to various forms of payment. We had lots of interesting discussion about shop offers and how to save money. Some children even had an awareness of the different types of cards and paying through money apps. Lots of very interesting conversations around the theme of money. We look forward to progressing the topic to rounding, adding and subtracting money to £20 and a spending budget task using shopping brochures.
After break, we had a surprise visit from two local firemen. They provided us with a very informative talk and some useful advice about switching off devices at night or when we are out of the house. The firemen were very impressed with all of our interesting questions. We received a lovely pack to take home with colouring activities, puzzles and cards.
This afternoon, we were very lucky to have our first coaching session with Danny Toner. The children had fun developing some basic fundamental skills with some games and relays. There was even some time for a few competitive matches at the end. We are looking forward to our next session already.
