Busy hands in SP2

6th May 2025

On our return after Easter we have been busy with our hands in cookery, STEM, ICT and play based activities.
In support of 'Healthy Eating Wednesdays' we made yummy fresh fruit smoothies. We chopped apples, blueberries, strawberries and bananas. To give our smoothies a kick we squeezed in some fresh lemon and lime juice. On average each smoothie we made contained five pieces different fruits. They were delicious!!

In STEM we made some helping hands that moved like puppets. These were very tricky to make and took a lot of concentration on our fine motor skills to be able to tie knots and feed string through very thin straws. We enjoyed playing with the hands we created even giving ourselves a tickle!

As part of our new topic of 'Water' we completed a STEM challenge using our hands to manipulate tinfoil to make boats. When our boats began to float we put them to the test adding cubes as weight. Cooper was delighted he could put 20 cubes on his before it sank.

Mr Mason gave us a lesson on Internet Safety this week and we had to then take part in an interactive quiz afterwards. We loved doing this and there was so much excitement to see who would score the highest. We learned the hard way that less speed and rushing gave us more accurate answers!!

We love building and creating through play. BRIO is a strong favourite in our class and we created some amazing pieces like bridges, cranes and other vehicles.

We also had great fun playing in the sand in our outdoor learning area.
