Busy bees in P1

24th Feb 2022

We have finished off learning all about winter and are excited to begin our new topic … Mrs Breen decorated our planning board with some interesting items and we had to guess when we would find them eg flowers, baby lambs, rabbits and mini beasts - we knew then our new topic was all about Spring! We also have a lovely new classroom door with buzzy bees on it, as we will be learning all about bees too!
The first thing we wanted to do was to see if we could spot any signs of Spring in our school grounds. We went on an exploring trip with our notebooks, pencils, checklists and a pair of binoculars - believe it or not there were actually quite a few signs of Spring like daffodils, green leaves and buds.
We also found a chrysalis which we were so excited about!!! We put it inside the bug hotel beside our outside classroom though, to keep it safe from birds or other animals that might want to gobble it up - we really do hope it will turn into a beautiful butterfly πŸ¦‹

Later we used some loose parts during play to built little pretend gardens for the mini beasts and showed some powerful imaginations! Mrs Breen was fascinated!

Now we need to decide how we will decorate our classroom and set up our roleplay area for Spring - what a beautiful time of the year! 🌸🌺🌷🌼🌿
