We are thrilled to share that St. Mary's PS, Portaferry recently achieved Runner Up in the Best School Gardening Project for the Ards and North Down in Bloom competition. Our dedicated team, led by Miss McCarthy and Mr. Smyth, attended the prestigious awards ceremony at The Orange Tree in Greyabbey, to celebrate this remarkable accomplishment.
The event was a wonderful opportunity for our school to be recognised alongside other incredible gardening enthusiasts. Miss McCarthy and Mr. Smyth were delighted to meet and exchange ideas with fellow educators and gardeners. The ceremony featured an inspiring speech by Amy Kelly, a well-known gardener from BBC Radio Ulster Gardener's Corner, who shared valuable insights about the importance of cultivating green spaces in schools, as well as tips for growing edible plants.
Congratulations to everyone involved in the project for their hard work and creativity! We look forward to continuing our gardening journey, nurturing both plants and young minds.
