The boys and girls were so proud of themselves this week as they learned how to use their very first Maths textbook in class. First they had to find the correct page, read the instructions for each problem, try to understand what each problem was asking, choose which method of calculation, solve each one, follow the alphabetical order of each question, answer them in an organised way in their Maths exercise book and finally, check their work. Such a lot of steps for little P4s but the RUCSAC technique helped so much. They also used the counting beads and interactive board to work on Place Value.
Phonics and spellings took the form of investigating the er, ir, ar, ur and or sounds in words. The children loved using their highlighters to find and see the words and letter patterns. Guided reading continued at home and in school.
During Art lessons the class produced some great work based on Lifeboats which tied in with their WAU topic.
Grow in Love was all about being ‘Followers of Jesus’ and how they became part of the Christian family at baptism.
A lot of fun was also had at Fundamentals as the children continued to build on their individual and team skills.
Congratulations to Maol and Lucia who were voted on to the Eco-Council as well as Leo and Rebecca who were voted on to the School Council to represent P4.
