A busy time for P4!

24th Jan 2023

There was a wonderful turnout for the P4 ‘Do This In Memory of Me’ mass last Saturday. Everyone was so proud of how well the P4s spoke, participated so fully in the mass and how they received their lovely enrolment certificates on Monday. Also on Monday, the P4s talked to Mrs Lennon in the chapel. She told them all about The Children’s Liturgy programme which takes place at the Sunday masses and to which some of the children attend. She gave the boys and girls some lovely worksheets to complete. All this helps with the preparations at home, in school and in the parish for the sacrament of First Holy Communion which will take place in May.

In class for Maths, it is all about the Times Tables this week. There is definitely lots of learning of tables going on in homes and in school too. Thanks to some fantastic P7 mathematicians who came along to help Mrs O’Neill and told the children about how important it is to keep learning all their tables in preparation for KS2. Parents, don’t forget all the wonderful ‘Links’ in the 'Home Learning' section of the school website and indeed Mathletics which will help develop lots of areas of learning too.

During Literacy, it is all about comprehension in our Accelerated Reader program, spellings, using adverbs and prepositions as well as working on the P4 handwriting skills.

The P4 WAU topic is moving on too as the children investigate the features of ‘Castles’ on the internet and create more techno castles on the iPads.

Art is all about a wonderful piece of shape art called ‘Castle in the Sun’ by Paul Klee. Mrs O’Neill is looking forward to seeing the finished pieces.

On Thursday P4 will travel to Portavogie PS for a ‘Jumping Clay and Games’ day as part of their Shared Education programme. We know that it will be a lovely day for everyone. Don’t forget a coat and packed lunch!
