2D and 3D Shape Work

2nd Oct 2025

For Numeracy this week, our children have been working on our 2D and 3D shape knowledge, through a variety of activities. They played interactive online shape sorting games, which provided a fun way to recognise and categorise various shapes. These games captured their attention and strengthened their understanding of shape and space. We also spent some time doing some creative problem solving, as the children needed to create vibrant pictures with the 2D shapes. Later in the week, we discussed the properties of 3D shapes and how corners, edges and faces can help/hinder building structures. They discovered that certain shapes were better than others, at building stability within their towers. In class, we also completed lots of shape-based worksheets to give our students the opportunity to test their knowledge.
