The boys and girls enjoyed a visit from the Portaferry in Bloom ladies today at school. They received a little sunflower plant which they have ‘adopted’ and they also planted a little sunflower seed into a biodegradable pot. They have been asked to look after them really well at home by planting them out in their garden or putting them on a sunny windowsill. They must ensure that they water them so that they grow big and strong. When the sunflower plants have grown taller, the boys and girls will have the opportunity to enter The Portaferry Gala - Ards and North Down Tallest Sunflower Competition should they wish to take part.
